[That is extremely on the nose. Monty raises his brow at the teacups, but can't help laughing. He has his Christmas morning with Renart before heading over to Undertaker's house, a package for him in hand, as well. It's nothing fancy, just brown paper and string.
He raps on Undertaker's door. He's dressed in Renart's scarf from Between, but his cheeks are still flushed from the cold whenever the other man opens up. Monty grins at him and holds out his present.]
[When Undertaker comes to the door he's already dressed in the awful jumper that will be unveiled for the rest of the Meadous at the evening's party. The smell of freshly baking cookies wafts out from inside his house, along with the warm, woody odor of a fire in the hearth.
He gives Monty a smile back, reaching out with both hands to take the package from him before pushing the door wider with one shoulder for the gentleman.]
Happy Christmas~ Have you already found your present? Renart didn't ferret it away with hers, I hope.
I did, thank you! [Monty wrinkles his nose at the other man in mock-irritation as he steps in and closes the door against the cold.] Really, I shan't be able to use those with any guests we have over save you and Mr. Holmes.
[What's the word for gifting someone something you intend to use, yourself? Whatever it's called, that may have been his not-so-subtle intention.] Then they'll just be our special cups, won't they?
[He giggles a little and moves to set his gift down on his desk where he can begin unwrapping it. When the paper is torn and falls away to reveal the music box he looks at it with a bit of puzzlement.]
A music box? Don't you usually gift these to children?
[Monty's confidence in his gift jars slightly at the question.]
D-do you?
[He doesn't know. He hadn't received much in the way of presents as a child. They hadn't the money for it. A good meal and a warm oven were often presents enough in the cold months.]
Relax, I was only teasing you. [He turns to half-look at Monty with a more genuine smile, before he picks it up and holds it close to his face as he examines it. It definitely fits in with his house's decor, and after he's done inspecting it he turns it's crank a few times.
The melody starts up and it only takes him a moment to recognize it. He doesn't have any follow-up remarks for now, as he simply listens until it slows to a stop.]
[He relaxes slightly, more embarrassed now to not catch the teasing than because he's done something foolish. Monty waits for a few seconds for some reaction before speaking.]
I asked for the pieces so I could put them all together. I know it is isn't much, but I wanted something... unique.
[Carefully, he sets the music box back on his desk and looks at him again. The touched expression on his features wouldn't be terribly noticeable to most, but hopefully Monty knows him well enough by now to identify it for what it is.]
It's nice. [A short pause, while he gathers more of his thoughts.] And very unique. Puts my gift to shame, honestly.
[That would ruin the moment. As it is, Monty tips his head back, looking toward the ceiling as he thinks.]
Would you give me lessons in baking? You're a far better cook than me, and I fear Espio would tease me mercilessly were I to beg some tutelage from him.
From your lips to god's ears that I should become ever so skilled! Or Zephyr's ears? [Monty shakes his head slightly.] Have you been much in contact with them? I did wish to thank them for granting my wish, in-person. It seems... rather presumptuous to call down a god, though.
I've only ever corresponded with them. [He had thought about meeting them a few times but was still uncertain of just how close he wanted to get to Zephyr.] Perhaps you can send them a test batch or two after you begin learning. Or I could deliver them for you? Zephyr would like that, I imagine.
Yes, I think I'd like that. Well, we could offer them both something together? I would like to acquaint myself properly with the local celestial bodies.
[Perhaps not as he'd been intending to acquaint himself with Aletheia when he'd the chance, but it's only polite, really.]

Happy Christmas, my dear.
[Inside, Undertaker will find a music box. When wound, it plays the song Monty had sung for him when they'd had their Hearts.]

I can get you something different. I'm sorry.

Not at all. Your gift was very much you, as mine is me. Yours is more practical, in any case, even if it's only for special occasions.

If you'd ever like to give me ideas for future presents I'm more than willing to listen and take them into consideration~
[Or maybe he should ask him about those lovely 'trees' Monty had had in his room and see if they'd followed him here, or not.]

That's all? Well, of course... it's really not difficult. [Even a simpleton could do it, is the implication by his tone.]

Doing it is not difficult. Doing it well is the challenge!

[If he had any substantial eyebrows he might waggle them, but instead he falls back on giving Monty a cheeky grin and a peck on the cheek.]
If I can teach you to make scones half as well as you can sing a song, I'll consider it to be a successful endeavor.
