[He doesn't blame Monty for being so concerned, considering things that've happened in their not too distant past. Undertaker doesn't appear to be hurt when he answers, but is perhaps just a little worn.]
No need to be alarmed over it. We're alright... for the most part. I only pissed her off more than usual.
[Monty steps into the house without invitation and gives Undertaker a once over with his own hands to be thoroughly certain. He finally settles with sliding his arms around the other man's neck.]
[He doesn't protest the check, appreciative of any physical contact. It's actually a bit sweet. And when Monty's arms loop about him he ducks in to give him a brief kiss.]
Have you heard of the recent trouble with Bucky? He's become progressively... unstable.
[The kiss is welcomed, but there's confusion at his brow when he pulls back from it.]
No. He told me to keep away from him since we met to discuss matters some weeks ago. I have made an effort to avoid him since. Is this something to do with Dr. Watson being incapacitated by roving stairs?
I suspect so. He also destroyed his home while he was undergoing his punishment. So I told him that it would be better off for everyone if he didn't exist.
[Monty's brows jump up, and he's silent for a long moment. It's not that he disagrees with the sentiment on principle, but it's rather harsh, particularly to say to the man, himself.]
Ah... I see why that might upset her. Mr. Barnes has a pathological need to speak his mind to Renart, it would seem. You may wish to limit any... unseemly remarks in his presence.
Do you truly feel that way, or was it only to vex him?
[His shoulders lift in a small shrug before he takes one of Monty's hands in his own and brings it closer to his face as if to inspect his knuckles. Just to have something else to focus on as he answers.]
A bit of both, really. I have little respect for those who raise a murderous hand against their loved ones. If he can't control himself at even a base level then he's a danger to enemies and friends alike.
I've little doubt that's true, but Renart is infatuated with him, you know? [There's a tightness to his own voice.] Or perhaps she's in love. Regardless, her heart beats for him in this moment, and so she will not hear reason on the matter. You'll recall I'm little better when the madness of emotion has taken me.
[He shifts his hand to draw a nail across where he'd once partially lopped off Undertaker's hand with his sword.]
At least you thought of me as your opponent, at the time.
[His gaze follows the motion of Monty's nail across his skin, then shifts so that their fingers lightly thread together.]
I hope she comes back to you, soon. [Because it was difficult to see them apart and suffering, even if Monty had set it off and had been the catalyst in Bucky's decline.]
I fear it may be a very long time. I saw her with Royce and she would hardly even look at me. [But this isn't about him right now. Monty sighs.] I hope her anger is not long to last for you, either. Perhaps if you apologized? Told her it was only a moment of emotion, fear for her and for me. Paint it as fleeting anger, not a calculated assessment.
[He holds the other man's gaze for a long moment before relenting. The refusal to answer is answer enough.]
I'm staying over tonight. [It's said with the defiance of a man daring Undertaker to refuse him.] And I should like for you to have me. Is that understood?
[He's glad that Monty doesn't press the issue any further, knowing that he at least got his meaning across. Even if Renart is against them at the moment, she's still dear to him, as well, and it seems too harsh to turn on her.
Blinking once at the other man's demand, he then gives a slight smile and a chuckle before he brings Monty's hand closer and lays a kiss against his knuckles.]
[Monty pulls his hand back, but he does lean in for another brief kiss before breezing past Undertaker, taking charge of the man's house as if it's his own and flitting off to the kitchen to see about preparing them a meal.]

I very much doubt logic will appeal to her.
cw: alluded coerced suicide
[And he definitely wouldn't mean the apology. He'd made his opinion perfectly clear to her and turning back on it wouldn't help him.]
But I'll refrain from instigating any more trouble with him.

The next best option, I suppose. Was it only words or did she truly attack you?

[Which is a half-truth. She had initially attacked him and attempted to pin him down before he managed to wrestle her off.]

That is not what I asked.

I won't pit your feelings against hers. It isn't anything you should worry about.

Of course. I'm happy to meet that demand.
